Don’t sabotage your happiness!

In life, it happens many times that when we have the chance to gain something, we feel like we don’t deserve it and we sabotage our own happiness. If we don’t have the courage to make changes, then we might get stuck in an unhappy situation for a long time. In fact, for change to happen in our life, we have to let go of something: maybe some friends, maybe a job, a place or those old habits that don’t support us anymore. I believe this is the natural process of change, we have to lose something in order to gain something new.

When you want to make a change in your life, listening to others’ opinions is not always the best idea. You will turn to your friends, colleagues or family first, but they will have a different point of view, their own one. If you really need another person’s opinion or advice, it is better to get an opinion from an outsider (e.g. a counsellor/coach) rather than from someone who is emotionally or in any other way involved in the situation.

When you have a dream/goal, and you really want to make it happen, you have to trust yourself, and life will support you. Other people around you might have doubts, they might have different opinions, but it is your life, your journey, and it is your duty to make yourself happy and successful. Share your ideas with people who have similar goals to you and you know that they will support you no matter what. This will give you courage and motivation to take more and more inspired action towards your dreams.

You deserve all the happiness and success in the world, so don’t forget to act that way. Don’t feel ashamed about your dreams, and have courage to live your own life the way you want to live it! It is your life and not somebody else’s! Being happy is not being selfish. Other people may have their opinions, but that is because they are thinking about themselves first, so they are being selfish. If you are happy, you can share more happiness with others, therefore in the end, everyone will benefit.

Be grateful and appreciate the good

 

Whatever stage in life you might be at this moment, you will most probably wait for the next big change to happen. You might be waiting to get a new job, you might be ready to start a better relationship, you might be wanting to move to a new place, etc. We are all preparing and waiting for something, with more or less patience. Some people might be completely stressed out before making the next big change, but I suggest you to take it easy and enjoy the ride rather than stressing yourself unnecessarily.

Remember that life is a journey, not a destination.
When you are trying to change something in your life, be grateful for the lessons you learn during the journey and use them wisely to reach your next achievement. One experience leads to another.

 

 

Even if you feel like 1, 2 or 3 years is too much to wait for something to happen, it really isn’t. As they say, time is going to pass anyway, so you better start that new project right now by taking baby steps to achieve it. Just take the first steps, and the next ones will reveal themselves on the way. And if your project takes a long time, then enjoy the journey. Reward yourself for the little steps, and appreciate everything that brings you closer to your goal.

If your mind is clouded with stressful thoughts, then sit down with a notebook and write down everything that you are grateful for and appreciate all that you have achieved so far. Make peace with where you are right now, enjoy the journey and stay happy!

The power of your thoughts

 

“As a single footprint will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep, physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over again the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.”  (Henry David Thoreau)

I have recently come across this quote, and I find it very powerful.

If you have read any books on the law of attraction or any other spiritual books, then you must be aware that our thoughts have creative power. Our thoughts create our life, the Universe is reflecting back to us what we are creating with our thoughts. Our thoughts create our reality.

I believe that our thoughts have even more power than we can comprehend. Some people live their everyday life without even knowing anything about the power of their thoughts. If they have a happy life, they must have happy, positive thoughts, so in the end it is all good for them, whether they are conscious of this power or not.

But there are also those people who constantly create negative stuff in their life because of their repetitive negative thinking that will only attract negative experiences for them. I wish these people realised that they could change their life, not overnight, but they could start with one thought, and then work on another one, and then another one.

We can change ANYTHING in our life, just by our way of thinking.

“Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change.”

It may be hard to do so, because we all face many distracting factors. We have to live our life, do our job, look after our family, etc. We might have negative thinking patterns we brought from our childhood, and it takes conscious effort to change them.

You have to put in quite some effort to change your thoughts. But for any change to take place in your life, it has to start with your thoughts.

If you don’t put the effort in it, nothing is going to change. You have to pave the path, as the quote says above. It takes practice, it takes time and patience.

Tips:

A good way to change your thoughts, or concentrate on the positive aspects of any subject, is to start a gratitude journal. Write down all the blessings that happened during the day, and write down everything you are grateful for. You can also focus “being positive” on a single subject by writing down all the positive thoughts about that one thing, it can be a person or anything you want to improve in your life.

Don’t do it if it doesn’t make you happy!

 

How many times in life do we find ourselves doing something that doesn’t make us happy? Recognising the fact that something does not make us happy is fine, actually this is the first step we can take towards something different that will make us feel better.

The real question is: do you recognise and accept that something does not make you happy, and maybe it is time to move on? Or do you just continue to do the same thing, hoping that things are going to get better?

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results.”

Things are not going to get better, unless you DO something. Although, in some situations, the only thing you can do for the moment is changing your mindset, and that is enough.

You cannot turn a situation around instantly, therefore the best way to start the process is in your head. Think some positive thoughts! Use your mind, change your thoughts, see the positive aspects in your current situation and gather some ideas about how you would like the situation to turn around. The process will take you to the next logical step, and maybe even some unexpected changes will turn up in your life, like you are offered a better job or you get a good idea or help from someone you did not expect.

Just trust the process, keep in mind what you want, take the necessary steps and sooner or later you are out of that situation that no longer served you and your happiness. Remember, life is too short to live miserably, so it is better for you to take action right now if you aren’t happy where you are. Things are not going to change overnight, so be patient, use your mind first to get a clear picture about what you really want and do not give up!

I encourage you to keep your vision and you can create the dream life that you want to live!

Dare to walk away if you need to!

 

Change in life is completely natural, and sometimes we need to make changes in our life to keep up with our personal growth.

Many people seem to be stuck in mentally or physically unhealthy situations, but in fact their life is not going to change until they make the decision in their mind that they want to change their circumstances and take at least the first step towards something different.

We all have an inner guidance that tells us whether a situation feels right or not, whether we are happy with how our life is going or not. We should always listen to this inner guidance and not what our friends, colleagues, family or media and advertisements say.

If you need help in following the right path, you can always turn to a coach, a consultant or psychotherapist. But you can also take some baby steps by yourself.  For example, you can read self-help books or find related forums online. If you want to meet like-minded people, you have to look for the company of people that are interested in the same things as you are. If you want to change your career, you should start getting more information about the kind of job you want to do. If you feel the need to move somewhere else, start playing with the idea and think where you want to move and why, what kind of house and environment you want to live in.

 

 

These changes are normal and natural, and we should not be ashamed to make changes in our life just because somebody does not approve what we want to do. That is their path and not ours.

Sometimes we have to respect ourself enough to walk away from people and situations that don’t serve us and don’t make us happy anymore.

Find the beauty in everything, everywhere

 

It cannot be stressed enough how important it is to appreciate everything good in life in order to live a happy life. Our thoughts and feelings define whether we live a happy life or not. How many negative thoughts do you have in a day? How many times are you complaining in a day? How do you feel in general?

This post is about finding the bright side, about the importance of being grateful and positivity in life, because that is the only way to happiness. It doesn’t matter if you have everything you need at this moment or if you don’t, it doesn’t matter if you have a lot of money or if you don’t, what matters is your attitude towards life.

If you are surrounded by negative people who are complaining all the time and cannot appreciate anything, then most probably you are going to develop a similar attitude. These people attract even more negativity into their life with this attitude, and the negativity doesn’t stop, because they continue to look for the negative and they continue to experience the negative.

If you have the intention to change your life, try to set aside some time for yourself and look at your thoughts. How many negative thoughts do you have in a day? Your thoughts are defining what you experience in life. Your thoughts are creating your reality. Is it time for a change?

If you would like to change what you experience in life, then start being grateful and appreciate the good. Do not complain about what is not working, instead, concentrate on what is working well in your life. The more you are grateful, the more of the things you can be grateful about you will attract.

Decide what you want!

 

Decide what you want before you do anything!

Start your day with clear intentions, decide how you want to feel and what you wish to experience. If you let the Universe know about your intentions, it will help you achieve that.

In general, be clear about what you want in your life! Decide how you want your life to be! What kind of friends do you want in your life? What qualities do you appreciate in a person? What do you want in a romantic relationship? Decide what you want in your relationships!

Decide how you want to feel!

Decide that you want to be happy no matter what!

Decide to look for the positive every day, everywhere!

Decide what you want to achieve in your career! How much money do you want to have? And how do you want to spend it?

Look for the evidence of abundance everywhere!

Appreciate your well-being and create the life you want to live!

Ask and it is given

 

We all heard this line from various sources, like the Bible (“Ask and you shall receive”), from the book The Secret or from Esther & Jerry Hicks’s book titled Ask and it is given.

It sounds so simple, yet how many of us are still struggling daily with not getting what we want?!
Do you feel stuck in a situation? Then try this.

The secret is that you really need to ask. Take the time, sit in meditation or include it in your prayers. Even if you have a busy lifestyle, take a few minutes before you go to sleep and ask God/the Universe/your angels; whatever you believe in, it doesn’t matter, the important point here is to ask.

Ask and be ready to receive. Go into the details. List why you want to get/achieve something: in what ways it feel make your life better, how it will make you happier, how it feel make other people happier, how you will feel when you have it, etc.
Feel it, feel the happiness and the joy of having it.
Imagine how you will act, how you are going to talk about it to your friends, how you are going to recall the funny story of getting what you wanted.
Bask in the feelings and be grateful now. Be grateful that you can imagine it, and you can have it. You are one of those lucky creatures on this earth who has the privilege to manifest things to enjoy in their life. Express your gratitude for all this! Doesn’t it feel awesome already?

That is the true secret. Take the time and ask.

Surround yourself with the right people

 

I have written about this topic earlier, but due to changes taking place in my life, I came to recognize once again how important it is to surround yourself with the right people.

“You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.” (Jim Rohn)

“Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher!” (Oprah Winfrey)

What kind of people you spend most of your time with? Are they supporting you and your dreams, or are they pulling you back to the past where you no longer want to be? Are they motivating you or are they constantly questioning your desires?

I know it can be very hard to go against family members or good old ‘friends’, but if you want to be happy, you have to let go of some people. Sometimes it is the hardest thing in life to go in the opposite direction. To do the opposite of what your family or friends want you to do. You know what they expect you to do, but you know that it is not what you want. You want to live your dreams, but at the same time you don’t want to hurt them. It can be a real struggle.

I say, dare to follow your dreams! Eventually you are going to be happy, and sooner or later your family and old friends will be happy for you too! They will see you are thriving.

What is more important, once you open yourself up to meet people with similar interests and motivation to yours, then they are going to flow into your life. You just have to start somewhere. Take the first step towards your dreams. Just take the first step, and follow the next step. And so on.

You will meet positive and inspiring people. You will make new friends who are going to support you. You will surround yourself with the right people, and this will motivate you to live the life you want to live and to follow all your dreams!

Declutter your home, improve your life!

 

Recently, I’ve been wondering how much our living environment affects our life, our happiness, our energy levels, our success, our health, etc. Well, it does! There is even a science that deals with this called feng shui! It is interesting stuff, however, I don’t want to go into details here, as I am not an expert; and I only want to share some very simple thoughts that are just common sense.

I always loved home decor and design, planning a perfect living environment. I know not everyone can afford to have the perfect house, but you can still make the best of what you have.

I also like those makeover TV shows where they help people revamp their homes. It is not only about bringing in a nice new design and a modern look, but also about getting rid of the old and probably a lot of clutter that doesn’t serve those people anymore. A makeover like this can really change people’s lives, as by themselves they might never had decluttered their house.

Now I am getting to my point, which is about keeping your environment tidy and clutter-free. It is more important than we think. If you have too much stuff all over the place in your house, it is taking the energy away from those things in your life that are really important. Simplicity is the key!

Why do you keep stuff you no longer use? It’s okay to keep things for a while just in case, but what about the stuff we do not use for 10/20/30 years?? Get rid of the clothes you are no longer wearing, get rid of the old gadgets that are no longer working, donate your old furniture you no longer want in your house.

 

 

Your environment is reflecting your inner reality and whatever problems you might be facing in life. Therefore, it is better to live in a clean, tidy and purposeful environment.

Let’s imagine an exercise when we visit the houses of some random people and we look at their living area. Take a few notes on how their home looks inside. Is it cluttered, is it tidy? Is it modern, is it minimalistic? Is it old school, is it fresh? As you answer these questions, you will probably find the same patterns in those people’s lives.

And now, you can look around in your own home to see what is serving you well and what needs to be changed. It might seem overwhelming to start a major decluttering, but you can do it step by step.  It is going to be worth it!

Be brave, get rid of the old and make space for the new!
