Book recommendation

I am very grateful that I was introduced to this inspirational, life-changing book called Big Magic written by Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love.

I feel a bit inappropriate to call this book ‘life-changing’, since people usually refer to books like The Power of Now from Eckhart Tolle, or The Secret from Rhonda Byrne as such. It is that for me anyway (like some sort of personal Bible). I believe I will get back to it in the future, and reread it for everyday inspiration and encouragement. It could be life-changing for many other people out there, who may never get around to read it. That is why I am spreading the message – read this book!

The primary theme in the book is about creative expression, therefore one could think it is written only for artists, such as writers, poets, painters, actors, etc. The author talks a lot about her own path in creative expression and writing. If you consider you have any sort of creative talents to be expressed, then this book is for you. If you never considered yourself talented in any creative field, there must be at least something that greatly interests you and find joy in pursuing that thing. Then this book is for you as well.

You don’t have to be a professional artist at all, this book in itself is an inspiration to follow through with whatever you like doing, just because you love to do it. The author encourages all of us to pursue our dreams, because it is fun, and reminds us all the time not to be discouraged by any outer circumstances. Because if we are in this lifetime, we might as well enjoy it!

Have the courage to be who you are!

The only way to live a happy life is by being who you really are. Some people might struggle even to find out who they really are; while others might have an idea, but they don’t have the courage to be themselves and live that way. There is a lot of pressure on each individual coming from family members, friends and society that they should live in a certain way. Some people will accept this automatically, others might follow the ‘rules’ not being sure whether that is the right thing to do, but the most courageous will find their own way of living a happy life.

If you are somebody who is not sure who they really are, first you need to find out the answer to the question. You might need to get away from the buzz of life and clear your mind. Spend some time on your own, and think about what you really like doing. Try to remember what you enjoyed doing as a child and what your dreams used to be as a kid. They might seem like unrealistic fantasies, but they will give you a clue about what you really like and where your talents are.

If you know already who you really are and what you like doing, but you don’t have to courage to live that way, then all you have to do is take the first step and follow your dreams. Don’t let others discourage you, it is your life, you have to live it your own way. It can be hard to say ‘no’ or turn your back to certain people and habits, but you have to take the first steps. Your life will not change overnight, but you have to start your own journey at some point towards happiness.

Some people sadly waste their whole lives living somebody else’s life. Don’t be that person! If you have the courage, it will only take a few years for you to live your life the way you want it. You will not achieve all your dreams straight away, but once you are on the right path, you can be assured that your life is going the right way and you can enjoy the journey.

Follow your calling!

As many of us, I also find myself struggling between following my heart’s desires and creating material security in life. Many of us are trapped in a job we don’t like just because we have to provide food, shelter and other material goods for ourselves and our family.

Many people live their whole life without realising that they could do something that they actually like, something that fulfills them and makes them passionate about life. Society expects you to settle for a secure employment, settle for a job that you might not like and live a boring life with no passion and fulfillment.

To follow your dreams, you have to be brave and not care about what society and people around you expect you to do.  It might be hard at times, but it is all worth it in the end.

Everyone has a calling, and all of us are struggling at first to achieve that dream. But never give up, it is always worth it! If you can dream it, you can achieve it!

Stay inspired and follow your calling!

“Your calling is something that moves you like nothing else in life. It’s something you are attracted to, something you are passionate about, and it fills you with joy and sets your heart on fire when you do it.” (Rhonda Byrne, The Hero)

Follow your unique journey!

I got reminded today that we all have our unique journey in life, and we should all be brave enough to follow our unique path.

Today, someone else’s different perspective made me say out loud: ‘I am happy with where I am and I am happy with where I am going.’

It doesn’t mean that my life is perfect. It isn’t. But I know that everything I do now is the right thing to do at this moment, and I know that it is all leading to where I want to be.

Other people don’t know my life journey, they don’t know what I have gone through, and they don’t know where I want to be in the future.

We all have our unique journey, and we should not judge anyone based on our personal perspective in life. As long as you are happy with where you are, and you do the best that you can do, there is nothing to be judged.

Dare to follow your own path and happiness!

Are you ready to live your dreams? Really?!

We can read endless blog posts, articles, books on how to live our dreams, on setting goals for the future, on manifesting the life of our dreams. It all sounds very exciting and amazing; and it is really worth putting some thoughts into your future in order to live a better life. It is also a good practise to expand your thinking and imagination, to think a little outside the box, to allow good things to come to your life.

However, living the life of your dreams can be scary! Just imagine that today you are an average person with average problems (with relationship/money/career/health issues), and from tomorrow you want to live the life of your dreams. How is that possible?!

Are you ready to become the successful/happy/healthy person of your dream? Do you have the skills to deal with the tasks of your dream job?

It’s not going to happen until you are ready! Don’t expect everything to come to you just because you have read about the law of attraction, and you think you understand how it works. It does work, but you have to do YOUR work as well. It is a personal journey for all of us, and we have to learn how to enjoy it. This is the key to happiness.

In life nothing is free. You have to put into some effort in order to get something. You have to plant the seeds in order to reap. You have to deal with your emotional issues before you can enter into a happy relationship. You have to release your negative thoughts about money before it can flow to you.

You have to be grateful for all you have before you can get more. Life is not going to reward you just because you want something. You will get what you want when you have worked for it, when you have put in some effort.

Do you have a dream now? Do you think you are ready to get it?

Be honest with yourself and just think over (or write down) what you need to change in yourself to get closer to your dream or what steps you need to take to get closer to it.

Remember that Life is a journey and we are meant to enjoy it! 🙂

Surround yourself with the right people

I have written about this topic earlier, but due to changes taking place in my life, I came to recognize once again how important it is to surround yourself with the right people.

“You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.” (Jim Rohn)

“Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher!” (Oprah Winfrey)

What kind of people you spend most of your time with? Are they supporting you and your dreams, or are they pulling you back to the past where you no longer want to be? Are they motivating you or are they constantly questioning your desires?

I know it can be very hard to go against family members or good old ‘friends’, but if you want to be happy, you have to let go of some people. Sometimes it is the hardest thing in life to go in the opposite direction. To do the opposite of what your family or friends want you to do. You know what they expect you to do, but you know that it is not what you want. You want to live your dreams, but at the same time you don’t want to hurt them. It can be a real struggle.

I say, dare to follow your dreams! Eventually you are going to be happy, and sooner or later your family and old friends will be happy for you too! They will see you are thriving.

What is more important, once you open yourself up to meet people with similar interests and motivation to yours, then they are going to flow into your life. You just have to start somewhere. Take the first step towards your dreams. Just take the first step, and follow the next step. And so on.

You will meet positive and inspiring people. You will make new friends who are going to support you. You will surround yourself with the right people, and this will motivate you to live the life you want to live and to follow all your dreams!

Surround yourself with the right people!

The “S” Factor or Finding the Keys to Success

What do you think the “S” factor is?

What is the key to success? Yes, I’ve been wondering what is the key to success. What makes people successful? What is their secret?

Is there something special in these people, like an “S” factor? There is no secret, but there are some factors necessary for success.

We can learn these from the already famous and successful, but by success, I don’t mean becoming a world famous actor, singer, football player, whatever – I mean success on a personal level that will allow you to live the life you want and be satisfied with your achievements.

However, we can all imagine we are entering a talent show where they are looking for the “S” factor. What is it? What do you need to improve in yourself in order to win the game?

I came up with a list. Here is my 7 keys to success:

1. Talent

You need to be talented in something. Now don’t say you don’t have any talents! Everyone has. Maybe in school you were not considered as one of those talented students, but all that should not define you. Education often makes a mistake by not recognising or not encouraging certain talents. You should be aware of what talents you have, and be brave enough to show it to the world. It is never too late!

2. Passion

If you pursue your talents, then it is not difficult to be passionate about them. If you know you are good at something and you love doing it, then passion comes with it. Don’t let it slip out of your hands and deliberately stay true to your passions in life!

3. Hard work

Success is not for lazy people. The bad news is that hard work is inevitable. Whoever achieved something great, they have all put an immense effort in whatever they were doing. The average person usually sees only the shiny-glittery surface in successful people’s lives, but they don’t consider how much hard work there is in the background.

4. Motivation

If you do something you love, then this power should be sufficient to keep you motivated day by day. However, the hardships of life may discourage you at times from what you are doing, and that is when it is the most important to see the big picture and refocus your motivation.

5. Luck

The concept of luck is hard to grasp. They say ‘luck’ is when hard work meets opportunity. It means you have to put in some (or lots of) efforts first, then your ‘luck’ may find you.

6. Belief

If you have wholeheartedly followed all the above points in your pursuit of success, then I am sure you have belief in what you are doing. Belief is important when you are facing difficulties, and it is necessary when you don’t yet see the manifestation of your dreams. You have to believe it first to see it.

7. Persistence

Finally, you need to be persistent in making efforts while you are following your dreams. Even if you have worked hard with belief and passion, you might fail once, twice or several times on your way to success. Never let it discourage you!

The following encouraging poster will show you that even the biggest had failed, but they never gave up! You shouldn’t either!

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10000 ways that won’t work.” (Thomas Edison)

Do you have a dream? Just let it in!

As soon as you have the thought of a dream, it already exists in physical form. It is already out there somewhere in the Universe. You just have to let it in. Is it that easy?

That’s what they say!

It sounds very simple,  but to manifest the dream in our life – or to let it in – might not be so easy.

With all our limiting beliefs and fears, we ourselves may be the biggest enemy in manifesting our own dreams. Supposing we manage to overcome most of these conditioned beliefs, we still have to work and make the necessary efforts to achieve that dream. It is not going to fall in our lap from the sky.

Whatever you want to achieve, whatever your dream is, just focus on the outcome!

It’s a difficult idea to talk about and understand. I am asking myself how can I let in something that I want so badly? […] Maybe I shouldn’t want it so badly.

If I want something bad, it means the desire is coming from ‘lack’ or ‘need’, therefore I will only get more lack. However, if the desire is coming from ‘love’, then letting in doesn’t even sound so difficult. Then letting in is easy, it is natural.

So, the first thing you want to do is check where your desires are coming from, and once you have examined them, work on the ones that are coming from love.

End of a cycle?

As I am making new plans for my future these days, I feel a little weird, kind of empty, as if times were changing in my personal life.

There are things I used to do that I don’t feel like doing anymore. There are things that I was attached to, but now I feel like I can let them go.

I suppose a cycle in my life is coming to an end, and I need to get myself ready for a new Me.

I guess this doesn’t happen very often in a person’s life, and you may not feel the same thing at this time, but anyone can surely relate to it. But if you do feel something similar, you may check your astrological cycles or turn to numerology, and probably you’ll find the answer.

I would say during the past 5 years I achieved and experienced quite a few things that I was once dreaming about.

Now I feel like I need to dream a lot of new things, I need to plan, I need to plant new seeds; and I need to jump into the big dreams that I used to be afraid of. Now I am ready for more!

Actually, my previous blog post ‘Clarify your dreams’ was not written accidentally!

That’s what I am doing right now!

Clarify your dreams

When we are trying to achieve new goals or create new dreams in our life, we need to be aware why we want those things and whether we really want them the fastest way or we can patiently wait a little longer.

It is very easy to become jealous of others’ achievements today in this world, but we definitely should not follow others blindly. We need to be aware who we really are and what is important for us.

Instant manifestation usually doesn’t work, to manifest bigger dreams we need some time. Why? Maybe because we need to be ready to get them.

When a baby is learning to walk, he does not want to learn it overnight, it takes as much time as it takes. When you go to school, you don’t want to learn everything in one day, you know that it will take some time. You are not questioning whether you will get that degree or not, whether the Universe will grant it to you or not, but you know that it will take some efforts and time.

Similarly, when we decide to have a big dream, we need to clarify in ourselves what exactly we want to achieve and why. Will it make us happy? Is it something we are meant to do in life? How will it serve our growth?

When you are impatient and you want to go ahead of your dreams before you are ready, Life will give you a lesson to learn and it might be painful.

Take the time to clarify your dreams! You can do it by being grateful for what you already have and by imagining those positive things you want to experience in your future.

Make lists of things you are grateful for. This way, you will know what is really important for you in life. Therefore, you will not want something that is not really You.

Then make lists of things you want to see in your future. Imagine how you would like to live, what kind of work you want to do, how you want to feel, how you want to spend your time, etc.

Keep your attitude and emotions positive, make the necessary efforts; and you are going to live your dreams as soon as you are ready to get them! It is guaranteed!
